FULHAM MISSED BERBATOV

The Fulham manager Martin Jol has said that the team certainly missed the presence of the former Tottenham and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov in the match against Manchester city. Fulham recently lost to the home match against Manchester city 2-1 in the most dramatic circumstances. They managed to take the lead in the first half through a penalty, but the Manchester city striker Sergio Aguero scored just before the break. Edin Dzeko then scored the winner for Manchester city with only a few minutes of normal time remaining. Fulham came into the match without the recently acquired star player Dimitar Berbatov.

The Fulham manager confirmed before the match that Dimitar Berbatov would not be part of the match due to a thigh injury, which is likely to keep him out of the match against Southampton as well. The 31-year-old had a fantastic start to his Fulham career after he scored two goals in his debut match for the club. He was once again expected to be the main threat for the club in the match against Manchester city. For long period of the match, it looked like Fulham would be able to get an unlikely point against the Premier league champions.

“Petric did well, coming back after three or four weeks out. But of course Berbatov has qualities that can make a difference against a team like Manchester City. Someone told me he’s played 10 times against them and lost only once which gave me confidence. So it was very disappointing for us when he got his injury on Thursday. We went 1-0 up against the defending champions but in the end got nothing. We needed a result to justify our first-half performance,” said Martin Jol after the match. Fulham have made a strong start to the season and are currently in the eighth position.
