PRESSURE ON LIVERPOOL

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that all the pressure is right now on Liverpool’s shoulders after they kept their position at the top of the table following their 3-2 win over Manchester City. Liverpool came into the match after having performed well against the top teams this season. However, they had earlier lost against city at the Etihad stadium. Another loss would have been very difficult to take for Liverpool and Steven Gerrard, who have been trying to win the league title for several years now. However, this win puts them in a position where they can almost smell the title.

Cech, who has won three league titles with Chelsea in the past, says that nothing has been decided yet and that the blues could still win the league. However, he says that there is almost no pressure on Chelsea because they are second in the table and they need to depend upon the results from teams like city and Liverpool in order to win the title. Chelsea will be the visitors to Anfield in the next home match for Liverpool. The blues need to get a win in order to keep their hopes alive.

City, who are third in the table also have a chance, since they have two matches in hand.

“No-one expected anything from Liverpool and they are in contention and that is why they play without pressure so far, but let’s see how they are going to cope when it comes to the last hurdle. They will have to jump over it and they have been doing remarkably well. We have things in our hands. We need to wait for one slip-up from Manchester City, but if we win our games we have a chance,” said the goalkeeper, who is widely expected to be replaced by Thibaut Courtois in the summer.
