More sackings in Premier League on the cards

The owners have been quite patient with the managers in the Premier League this season. So far Fulham has been the only one club which has handed the axe to the manager despite the managers at several other clubs underperforming and their clubs being pushed into the relegation battle.

But it can change over a period of the next few weeks because Fulham has immediately reaped the rewards of bringing in a new manager. Claudio Ranieri who has taken over guided the team to three points in his very first match in charge. This might lead the other owners to think that they might also bring in a new man with fresh ideas who can change the fortunes of the team.

Some of the managers whose positions are under the microscope at the moment are Rafa Benitez who is in charge of Newcastle United and Mark Hughes who is in charge of Southampton. Rafa’s contract is going to expire at the end of this ongoing season and he has refused to discuss a new deal at this stage and there is no clarity over his future plans. But the good thing with Rafa is that he has got a great tuning with the Newcastle supporters and that might just be the reason why the hierarchy might be a little reluctant to dismiss him.

But as far Hughes’ position is concerned, his position is much weaker because the Saints have turned out to be one of the poorest sides in the tournament. They have just one victory to their name in the 13 games they have featured in so far and have only 8 points in the kitty at the moment. Another poor result from here might just seal Hughes’ fate.
